Because of the resurrection of Jesus, we're not just followers of Christ, but... Ambassadors for Christ! April was an interesting month. As United States citizens living in Romania, we got to celebrate two Good Fridays, an April Easter, and an Easter May 2nd. These are always wonderful experiences not just for the worship element, but for the connection with family and friends. We also got to spend more time with the youth as many of them had the month off. Here's a break-down of the month:
David is working on the art of brevity and, despite the packed days the above hint at, that short list is now the stuff of modern-day legends! (If you can't tell, I'm a tad proud of myself!) I'm not going to cheapen the accomplishment by adding a lot of fluff, so let's move on, huh? Prayer, Praise, People Here's a snapshot of how to pray for the ministry right now:
The Month In PicturesSPOTLIGHT: Jesus, the MessiahIt seemed fitting to take a month that focuses on the resurrection of Jesus to turn our focus to Him here as well. Over the years, many have been changed by Jesus. He is the pivotal figure in human history and yet not solely a good teacher or example to follow. He is God in the flesh. He is the image of the invisible God, as Paul writes in the book of Colossians. Under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, men were moved to write His words to us and for us, so the life we lead can be abundant, not just moving from death to life. So, Jesus, tell us something about yourself: You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden; nor does anyone light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on the lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven." Something that may be a surprise to you is that Jesus isn't available to do our Unity Questions. But I wonder if you, like me, ever wonder about the sitz im leben (setting in life) as Jesus lived His life on earth. What were those tranche de vie (slice of life) moments – like hurting His hand, hitting His "funny bone," laughing till He cried, accidentally breaking something – that made the fully-God-Son also fully man? I wonder... how would Jesus answer these?
If you haven't looked into it yet, I encourage you to check out The Chosen, Christianity's first ever crowd-sourced-and-paid-for episodic of the life of Jesus. If you struggle with picturing the Jesus who wore sandals and got sweaty, it might be worth your time. Click the link to check it out, or download the app on your smartphone. IN CONCLUSION... We are saved by, in, and through Jesus the Christ, and there is no other name by which we must be saved. He is our redemption, sanctification, and glorification – apart from Whom we have no hope in this life or the next. I hope you had a wonderful month, a blessed Easter, and you grow greatly this May! |
