Giving to others for their good is God's means of multiplying... Our Giving for Our Good! We've done a lot of traveling for work this year, living out of suitcases and sleeping in different beds, and that's been taxing for us as a family. Despite the busy schedules, however, we have been so blessed to give of ourselves in both financial and physical ways. We have also been blessed by those who have given so much to us in many ways (you will learn about that more in upcoming SPOTLIGHTS)! I'd like to say that we have always been thankful to give of our time and resources to help others, but sometimes it's been hard. It reminds me of Paul's comments to Corinth in the passage above, and challenges me to ask myself the hard questions of what's driving my spirit in the gift-giving. Am I giving just to get, or giving with a clenched fist? I hope not, and I pray all that we do would be a reflection of, and a guide toward, Jesus. I want that for you as well. May we sow generously and see fruit growing that surprises us all! Here's a break-down of the past month:
Prayer, Praise, People Here's a snapshot of how to pray for the ministry right now:
The Month In PicturesSPOTLIGHT: Video ProductionThis month has allowed me, David, to spend more time on an area of particular interest: video production. Many of you may not know about my background as an actor in my earlier years and, while I enjoyed both the stage/camera 'spotlight' of it all, I was also intrigued by the 'behind the scenes' attention to detail that made it all run smoothly. I've made a number of 'fun' videos that were just for my enjoyment, or other people, but this is the first time I've been able to make videos for a more purposeful use. This has also meant that I've been mentored by the 'media guru' of YFCI, one Martin Ainsworth, learning from his considerable wealth of knowledge and experience in video production. My hope is that you will begin to see a growth in the quality and story-telling of my own videos as a result of his aid! I've now traveled to each ministry site in Romania to capture video of the ministry happening here. The result has been both developing relationships with fellow staff and youth all over this beautiful country, but also serving our co-workers in Christ, missionaries for the good of the Church, with the types of videos they can use in their own ministries and their fundraising efforts. It might seem tacky to even mention finances, but nothing that any of us do can be done without money – the same thing goes for you! All we have to do is stop paying rent, utilities, property taxes, services, and the like to see the value of those things when they're gone. Missionaries are no different, but many of us have to raise our own support, even as we do the ministry work on the ground. Sometimes that means stopping the work we're gifted in doing to do the fundraising that many are worried makes us look like a used-car salesperson (no offense to used-car salespeople!) – and even be avoided at the same rate! We're so thankful for the growth during our time with Youth for Christ Romania and for the opportunities to serve through media creation. Please check out all of our videos in the VIDEOS tab, check back often for more additions, and be ready for next month's focus on the social media presence of YFC RO that Rebeca's been such a strong part of creating. Now, our UNITY Questions!:
