When youth have so many questions about God and His Word... Jesus Is Essential! It seems like we've been saying, for the past few months, "we'll be done traveling after this and things will quiet down for a bit." But it's been something of an inside joke, since the travel has continued throughout September, and the beginning of October as well! There have been many "first time" experiences for us, and we have treasured many of these events as both emboldening and settling experiences. With the help of about ten volunteers and helpers, we had 36 youth from Slatina and her surrounding villages (like Stoborești and Piatra Olt) for the first Youth Rally that we hope will become an enjoyable, yearly competition. From leadership opportunities within the YFC Romania ministry to the expansion of our ministry work in churches in other cities in Romania, we have watched the Lord move in ways that are encouraging. C.S. Lewis' memorable line from The Chronicles of Narnia's The Last Battle captures our joy at what is and our expectation of what could be: "Further up, further in!" We've been planning lately for a directional shift in the youth ministry here, looking at the Alpha Romanian material (which a sister ministry in Târgu Mureș uses for their Hungarian mission field). In an effort to encourage more youth to come not just to our fun youth events but to our youth meetings, fellowship, and Bible studies, we want them to develop relationships with other youth around town. Since the beginning of 2021, we have seen both tremendous growth in the youth and how false beliefs can impact our decisions. Our beliefs about who Jesus is greatly affects the way we see the rest of scripture. A biblical understanding of Jesus helps us answer questions with resolve and a peace. We've told many of you before how Orthodoxy is the primary faith in Romania, and many do not know enough about a Bible-believing "evangelicalism" to distinguish it from a cult! We want to inform people not just about Christ, but how our focus on the Bible motivates our practice and forms our view of Jesus. This is foundational to us, and yet how unknown it is to those we're trying to reach. We want to do the most possible with what we've been given, and that includes sometimes making a shift to see a greater return on what He's blessed us with – We're looking forward to this shift! Here's a break-down of the past month:
Prayer, Praise, People Here's a snapshot of how to pray for the ministry right now:
The Month In PicturesSPOTLIGHT: Thomas & Coralie GygerSeeing as we've spent about three weeks at Poarta Oilor ('the sheep's gate) this month, it's only fitting for us to feature the Gyger family this month! Thomas and Coralie are a young couple from Switzerland who moved here to take over the care and operation of this Christian camp that now belongs to Youth for Christ Romania. Over the past many months, we've enjoyed getting to know them, and one way to support them further is to let people know who they are and what they need. Thomas and Coralie, tell us a little about yourself! We are a Swiss family with 3 small children and we live in Romania, in Gârbova, a village located in the center of Romania. We are responsible for a center for holidays, guest rooms, and a campsite. During the summer we have a lot activities on the site, since from June to September several children's camps are organized. We are fortunate to live in a place made up of two houses, a huge piece of land, and a beautiful swimming pool. We're so thankful for the Gyger family, and for the camp they're managing so youth like ours can have an amazing experience with Christ! They are hopefully to have people sharing the load of the camp, and maybe someone in our network would be willing to spend a bit of missions time in Romania this next year. Not only will you get to see the lives of Romanian youth changed, but we'll likely get to connect several times during your time here as well! But for those of you who are unable to spend a summer getting to know the Gyger's, I can't tell you how much you could help the youth all over Romania by supporting YFC Romania's purchase of this camp. We are 30% paid and are dreaming big for the Lord's funding of the remaining 70% - here's the link to give. Now, our UNITY Questions!:

A bientôt, La famille Gyger |
