Integrity is integral to life, ministry, trusting relationships, and partnership in work like with YFC. Unfortunately, the daily news is full of people inside and outside ministry who are accused of compromising the truth. Abuse changes lives forever. But even the accusations of impropriety can be devastating to lives and reputations.
This is not an American problem. This is a human problem.
So it's time to share what the Clinkscales family is doing in Europe, what is coming in the future, and what you can do to help... lest a rumor weed begin to grow and take on a life of its own.
Has someone ever told you the Christian life makes your life better? Maybe they said it as a draw to Jesus, to explain why coming to Christ is a good idea. Perhaps you told someone of Jesus' benefits yourself, in an effort to remove stumbling blocks to faith. It's the common idea that you have a better chance of reaching someone with the gospel if they're in a time of transition, trouble, or tension (for instance, when people are stressed out, the thought goes, they are more open to hearing about a peace that surpasses understanding). That's true in part. It's also true that those in such positions can be even more hardened to the gospel because they can't 'square' the picture of God they have in their mind with what they're going through. So how do you share the gospel without pushing people away?
We've been in Romania over a full week, and it's been great to be with family. Rebeca has been continuing to get paperwork done in an effort to get us residency. Here's a little summary: She has to set herself up for citizenship with her maiden name before updating the government on our marriage certificate, her new last name, and getting the Romanian marriage certificate equivalent; we've got to get that done before we can get a car, a bank account, or start working on the paperwork me and the kids need (which will ease our travel in Europe once we are fully funded); turns out we needed some documents we didn't know we'd need, and they're somewhere in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean.
