As temperatures and leaves begin to fall, may we also... Fall on Jesus! This has been a crazy October, and I look forward to telling you about the crazy months leading up to it in the coming weeks! The last E-Newsletter we did was in February, covering January, before our fundraising trip to the States. Now, I have a lot of catch-up to do because there are so many God-stories to tell! I look forward to filling you all in on the past months in the weeks to come – so this year's monthly posts and E-Newsletters are going to be a little strange, to say the least. Written WAY after the fact, this fall could be a reminder of how many things we've left undone, but we choose to remind you that the activity that's been going on in real life (and in the spiritual realm) has simply been amazing (as I too often said in tonight's fundraising training meeting... but more on that next month). We have seen the goodness of God even as we've been reminded how important it is to fall on Jesus, to rest in His presence and provision, and walk out the journey of faith in community with others by whom we are encouraged, strengthened, and even rebuked when needed. We are a family, and we are so thankful for each and every one of you – whether we're as close now as we were when we met or our communication has fallen off, 'cause... life! We're going to send you the updates from the previous months as soon as they're done, but the plan now is that it will be something of a "Digest" version, with links to each of the months that I finish. Kookie, huh? I know, but I'm hoping that December's E-Newsletter will have an additional three Monthly Blog Posts for your frenzied, feasting eyes to devour! And you are not going to want to miss these posts, as we'll be sharing the stories of God showing up in our trip to America and our times here upon our return. There is so much to share, starting with the concern at the beginning of this year that we'd be financially done in Romania at the end of 2022 being little more than a fight of faith... during which God reminded us, He's not done with us yet! And I may very well send you a bonus E-Newsletter to cap off the full year's posts before the New Year so you can celebrate the goodness of God with us! But enough of the explanation – let's get back to the style you've grown accustomed to and the events from October that kept us busy. Here are the bullet points of what we're doing here in Romania, and even some plans for the future:
This was October, we enjoyed following what was happening with you over this month, especially when we got to talk with a number of you, and we continue to look forward to great things in the future with God's help! Prayer, Praise, People Here's a snapshot of how to pray for the ministry right now:
The Month in PicturesSPOTLIGHT: Emma BergEmma Berg is our Spotlight this month, and we're looking forward to seeing her again at Poarta Oilor at the end of this month, so she seemed to be a great fit for October and the restarting of our newsletters! This past summer, we met up with her for two youth camps in Gârbova, where she started her service in Romania. Over the summer and our two weeks, she practically shared her love for Jesus, youth, and camp life in general. David spoke with her about their shared passion for hiking and rock climbing – a passion it only seemed right for her to use in belaying for our youth (and me [David]!) as they went up the wall on site. I asked her if she'd like to share about herself and her work here with our audience and she was gracious enough to say yes, so I'll let her take it from here! Hi I’m Emma! I am from the vast prairies of Saskatchewan Canada. I have lived in Canada for all my life and have never left, but now here I am living in Darmanești Romania for one full year! I have a passion for sharing God’s love through investing in the lives of youth and kids, while also having a chance to explore God’s creation and learning about other cultures. I have been working with youth for about 7 years just part time and have recently had a newfound passion/excitement for full time ministry. My happiest place to ever be is helping at youth programs or being at summer camp serving in any way that I am helpful! I am here in Romania for 1 year to grow my relationship with God and learn what it means to serve in full time ministry. I am working alongside the team in Bratășancă and Moreni whenever I may be needed! This may include doing some English lessons with the kids and youth. I have only been in Romania since the middle of August, but it has been an amazing introduction into this beautiful country and all the people have been extremely welcoming! I am so excited to work alongside everybody here and continue to learn more about the culture here in Romania, and that is including attempting to learn the language! If you would like to follow my journey in Romania, you can check out my blog at https://emmaberg12.wordpress.com/ Thank you so much for telling us about yourself, Emma, and we pray God continues to strengthen and stir you in the work you do for the Kingdom! More than anything, I pray your connection with the Lord continues to be a steady and growing part of your everyday life, from sunrise to sunset, so that all you do is a reflection of Him and comes from a deep well of rock-hard faith. If you want to learn more about Emma, check out her latest newsletter for October – The One With The Routine.
Now, on to our UNITY Questions! Is Emma like you in any of these??
