Leap Year gave us an additional day this month, but only... In Our Minds! What's the point of leap year (an additional calendar day every four years), or Daylight's Saving Time too, for that matter? Who do we think we're kidding?! We know we're not gaining any time; staying out till it's dark outside doesn't mean we're really staying up later than before, and our sleep schedule certainly isn't affected as much since the advent of electricity; and while we're at it, that 20-yr-old born on February 29th KNOWS he's not just 5yrs. old! 🙄 The life we live in our minds isn't always wonderful. In fact, the mind's landscape can be frustrating at times, even painful! David was reminded of this when he was counseling 5 different youth (current AND former) this past month. As they've been walking through their own difficulties, David was pushed to confront his own struggles as well. That was the hard part –the struggles these young people were/are going through are no less painful as we get older. But this was also the very occasion that God used to both confirm the work he's doing in us and through us AND allowed us to see that we are having an impact! That's the glorious part–when God Himself shows us what He's doing and will continue to do because of our faithfulness! Some of these conversations were in person, some over text, and some with voice messages. If we add those things to all the weekly commitments we've already got, we recognize how 'full' & blessed our lives are here. This has been a critical part of our lives as we work to combat any and all negative, unhelpful thoughts with the truth of Christ (2 Cor. 10:3-6). We also recognize those areas where we need to do some work: as David was in Chișinau, Moldova at the end of the month & missed the first day of Spring & the special Mother's Day Awana, we've seen those areas where we need to protect our family time, even as we're doing ministry. Our kids have started saying we work too much, more frequently. So here’s a recap of February and a look ahead:
Though we've done three Newsletter months already this year, this will be our first email of the year–it's taken some time to get back into the swing of things with these updates, but we are all hopeful of the momentum generated already lasting through the rest of this year! As always, we would love to lift you up in prayer over the course of this month, so comment on the website, respond to this E-Newsletter, or contact us directly! Please keep us in your prayers this month, and here are a couple ways to do that! Prayer, Praise, People Here's a snapshot of how to pray for the ministry right now:
